Company, TheatreWorks:

Teaching Artists

Simply put, TheatreWorks has a family of people working together that create the art and life of dramtic productions which we offer to our community audiences. TheatreWorks, celebrating its 39th season, is a $7 million professional theatre company specializing in world premieres, new play and musical development, and produces 8 "mainstage" productions each season that celebrate the human spirit and reflect the diversity of our community.

  Do these describe you?
  • A passion for the performing arts and community-based organization.
  • A very positive attitude about working in an often hectic environment.
  • A detail oriented nature (yes, there is some daily paperwork and input required).
  • Clear communication skills, verbally, and in writing.
  • A desire to learn new skills and strategies.
  • Ability to stay cool in any situation.
  • The ability to think on your feet and use good judgment.
  • An appreciation for working as a team.
  • A desire to break into a new field and develop a lifetime career (limitless growth potential).
  • Experience with people in a forward-facing role.
  • A sense of humor and sparkling enthusiasm.
  • An affinity for "trying new ideas" out to solve problems.
  • Excellent documentation skills, to create repeatable process and procedure from the creative efforts.
  Our Environment:
  • We are fascinating people who believe their calling and passion is in theatre arts, community non-profits, and generally enriching the lives of others.
  • Many of us came from the "for-profit" sector, and now embrace our home and our family at TheatreWorks. We couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
  • We have an affinity for making "something out of nothing" in all aspects - we reuse; we recycle our sets, props and costumes; we are active in our communities and are environmentally conscious. Green? Yeah, we define it!
  • We are fast-paced, think-on-your feet types. No slackers allowed and you definitely won't "hide behind" anyone here!
  • Our people are multi-taskers, admittedly addicted to Peets and Starbucks, and always maintain a smile and a professional appearance with our audience members and corporate connections.
  • We are constantly learning new skills, techniques, ways to extract and produce meaningful data that helps us shape and determine the future choices of the company.
  • We are passionate people!

Send us a cover letter to the hiring managers listed below, stating your desire to be part of our amazing theatre company, what experience you have with non-profit companies or similar roles in start-up/ fast-paced environments.

Tell us why you believe you’re the best candidate for our position, and of course please include your salary history and your realistic expecations for salary in this position.

We do offer an extraordinarily generous benefits package including employer-paid health insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation/ holiday/ personal and sick days, season tickets to the shows (of course!), friends and family discounts, and a creative, energetic environment.

TheatreWorks is an equal opportunity employer, and committed to a diverse workforce.
